FIG. 01VIDDE — SHELL JACKET
CONCEPT STUDY
Once gorpcore fades, is there still a lasting place in Korea for a premium Nordic outdoor brand?
A Stockholm outdoor-apparel brand making technical shell jackets designed for both the mountains and the city, sold in Sweden, Norway and Germany.
THE SUMMARY EDITION · IN ENGLISH
01THE QUESTION
Is there a lasting place for a premium Nordic outdoor brand in Korea after the gorpcore trend — and is the customer a hiker or a city wearer?

FIG. 02SEOUL — A MOUNTAIN TRAIL
02WHAT WE FOUND
The proposition is clear: technical outerwear for both mountain and city, backed by durability, repairability and quiet design in muted moss and stone.1
In Korea the brand could be read less as a fashion-led outdoor item and more as a jacket meant for repeated use across weekdays and weekends.
A reading that outlasts gorpcore: an understated technical jacket worn for years and repaired when needed. A positioning to test, not a market response.
Repairability has to be shown as a service — a Korean contact point, scope and cost — not stated as a brand value.
03POSITIONS STILL OPEN
We did not pick a position the evidence cannot yet support. These stay open until the tests below separate them.
Position Vidde as technical outerwear that moves between weekday city life and weekend hiking. The proof must come from specific use scenes and product performance.
Position Vidde around durability and repairability: an understated technical jacket intended to be worn for a long time and repaired when needed.
Retain the current position of technical outerwear that belongs in the city, with mountain capability as the functional foundation.
04WHAT WE COULD NOT ANSWER
Whether Korean buyers need the category at all, and whether interest would convert into purchase — the main entry uncertainty.
How Vidde holds up between global high-performance outdoor brands on one side and urban lifestyle brands on the other.
Whether a Korean repair service is feasible, what it costs, and whether buyers would use it.

05WHAT WE WOULD TEST FIRST
Interview five to eight urban adults aged 28–45 who hike at weekends about their jackets, alternatives and repair experience.
Compare two propositions: one jacket for city and weekend hiking, and a long-use jacket that can be repaired.
Map five to ten real Korean alternatives across technical, mountain, urban-outdoor and repair-led segments.
Define a Korean repair journey and test access, trust and willingness to use it.
CONCEPT STUDYVidde is a fictional brand, invented to show the work. The assessment is real: our standard process, run end to end, with its labels and unknowns left as they came out.
